Melva Marie (Coatney) Lohmar

February 22, 1933 ~ April 17, 2018 (age 85)

Melva Marie Lohmar, 85 Years, of Forsyth IL, died at Imboden Nursing Home, Decatur IL on April 17th. Her family was with her. She was born February 22, 1933, in Staunton, IL to Lawrence Coatney & Annetta Hoffstetter Coatney. She married James H. Lohmar on April 26, 1952 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Staunton, IL. He preceded her in death on July 20, 2016. Melva was a dedicated homemaker who loved her family and would drop everything to see her grandchildren. She also had many friends who she kept near. She talked to them every day. Under Mel’s high school picture was the caption, “Call me Flow, because I talk in a steady stream.” Her friends and her family were her lifeline. She had worked at the Danville Salvation Army, Mound School Cafeteria and Bergner’s in Forsyth. Surviving relatives are children, Tom (Shirley) Lohmar of Mt Zion, IL, Susie (John) Hoffman of Springfield, IL, Rick (Karen) Lohmar of Silver Springs, MD, grandchildren, Jennifer (Lohmar) Meinhart (Brett), Tatum Lohmar, Brendan Lohmar, and Victor Hoffman. Melva was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, and sister, Kathleen Coatney in infancy. Graveside only with family and her dear friends will be in May.
