Obituary

Dorothy Marie Wolff Goebel, 92, of Prairietown, IL, died at Riverside Rehab and Healthcare, Alton, IL on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at 8:30pm of COVID-19. She was born September 7, 1927 in Bunker Hill, IL to Willis C. Wolff Sr and Helena (Schreiber) Wolff. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church, Bunker Hill, IL where she was also confirmed in 1941. She graduated from Bunker Hill High School in 1945. Dorothy married Norman F. Goebel from Prairietown on September 7, 1946 at Zion Lutheran Church, Bunker Hill, IL. They were married 57 years when he passed away in March 2004. Dorothy was a member of the St. Peter's Lutheran Church, St. Peter's Ladies Aid, Prairie Unit Home Extension and Election Judge for Moro Township for many years. She was raised on a farm and married a farmer. She enjoyed gardening, animals and birds, and cooking for many people. She is survived by a daughter, Norma (Ted) Kuethe, four grandsons, Aaron Kuethe, Adam Kuethe, Brian (Jamie) Goebel, Jacob (Erin) Goebel, nine great grandchildren, Christian, Emily and Adilynn Kuethe, Riley, Tina, Ben and Eve Goebel, Joshua and Sara Goebel, daughter in law, Judy Goebel, brother in law, Wilbur (Iona) Goebel, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, son, Dennis Goebel who died in October 2012, brother and sister in law, Willis C. and June Wolff, Jr., sister and brother in law, Marian and Fred Owen, her husband's sister and brother in law, Cornelia Goebel Haselhorst and Roger Wittulski. Family graveside services will be held at Prairietown Cemetery, Prairietown, IL with Rev. Brandon Larson officiating. Memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or School, Dorsey, IL.
