Barbara Josephine Koeller Kramer, 82, of Bunker Hill, IL, passed away at her residence in Bunker Hill, IL, on Sunday, November 11, 2018, at 1:17 pm. She was born July 2, 1936, in Hannibal, MO, to Marion Koeller and Ruth (Main) Koeller. Barbara was a graduate of Lindenwood College and Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, IL, where she earned a Bachelor’s in Music, a Master’s in Music, and a Master’s in Music Education. Barbara was a professional music performer and educator. Barbara taught music at Southwestern School District, Lewis & Clark Community College, and Blackburn College and was Music Director for the First Congregational Church in Bunker Hill for 42 years. She also worked at Halpin Music in Alton, IL.
She is survived by her two daughters, Rachel Kramer (Mary Lynn Barber) of Cincinnati, OH, and Claire Kramer (Dan Behnen) of Hamel, IL; her brother, Robert (Marlene) Koeller of Indianapolis, IN; two nieces, Kristin (Mark) Sneider of Cincinnati, OH, and Kathy (Chris) Syrus of Indianapolis, IN; a nephew, Rob (Alina Collins) Koeller of Indianapolis, IN; five great nephews; one great niece; many cousins; and countless colleagues, students,and cherished friends, including her longtime friend Mary Burns. Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Marion Koeller and mother, Ruth Koeller.
There will be a public "MEMORIAL, MUSIC, AND MORE SERVICE" on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at 11:30 am at the First Congregational Church, 105 N. Franklin Street, in Bunker Hill, IL, with Rev. Jeremy Wood officiating. There will be a dinner in the church fellowship hall following the memorial service where all will have the opportunity to visit with the family and friends, as well as share memories.
