Mary Florence (Audo) Anderson

May 24, 1916 ~ May 21, 2018 (age 101)

Mary Florence Anderson, n’ee Audo, 101, formerly of Gillespie, passed away peacefully at home, in Champaign, Illinois, on May 21, 2018. Florence was born, on May 24, 1916, in Spring Valley, Illinois to Albert & Catterina Audo. Florence was a graduate of SS Simon & Jude Parochial School, and Gillespie High School. A devoted wife, and mother, she loved her family more than anything in this world. She was a long time member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 4549, in Gillespie; SS Simon & Jude Ladies Auxiliary, and the Gold Star Wives of America. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Claud Anderson, who lost his life in June, 1945 , at Okinawa, while serving in the U. S. Navy, during World War II; a brother, Anthony “Tony” Audo of Gillespie, and sister, Helen White of Peoria. She is survived by her sons, Claud, Jr. and Albert; her daughter-in-law Jane; grandchildren, Stephanie (Eric) Lindemann; Michelle (Dave) Bilardello; Julie (Mike) Mangan, and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Kravanya Funeral Home, Gillespie, IL on Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 10:30am-11:30am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Noon at SS Simon & Jude Catholic Church, 304 North Macoupin Street, Gillespie, IL. Burial will immediately follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Gillespie, IL. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Florence’s memory to the Gillespie Public Library, the Gillespie Benld Area Ambulance Service, or a charity of their choice.
